Review of La Tapería
Ricardo Simoes Duarte
If throwing away your money sounds appealing, then this is the spot for you! My girlfriend and I ordered Patatas Bravas (€9.90), Txistorra (€9.20), Pulpo à la Gallega (€23.90), and two Txipiriron Croquettes (€5.80). We also had two small bottles of water (€4.20 each). In total, we paid €57.20, and what we received were essentially appetizer-sized portions. Starting with the croquettes, they were underwhelming, more filling than flavor. The Patatas Bravas were disappointing as well: just potatoes smothered in mayo and covered with a bland, overly spicy sauce that added nothing but heat. The biggest disappointment, however, was the pulpo. The portion was shockingly small, not even half an octopus leg, yet priced as if it were a full main dish (€23.90). This felt outright disrespectful. As for the Txistorra, they were the tiniest sausage slices I’ve ever seen. If you’re expecting the usual Txistorra served as decent-sized sausages on bread, you’ll be sorely disappointed. The service was okay, and the ambiance was pleasant, but I cannot recommend this restaurant. Spending €57.20 for what amounted to appetizers was a complete letdown. If you do decide to eat here, prepare to visit another place afterward to actually feel full, just like we had to.
