Review of Brasserie Alfa
Wook Chung
Brasserie Alfa is spanking new. It has the golden glitter, marble floors, with a true luxury brasserie feel. I guess it was renovated recently. The interior is spotless and you are instantly transformed to a high class French comfort food dining experience. Expectations are high. The service was friendly and prompt. Thomas - our server - had a lot of questions for us but at the end of the day, he was able to provide a quality service. But now, let's get to the food. This is your middle-of-the-line French comfort food with a bit of American bend. The escargot was okay, but not mind-blowing. The snails were a bit on the skinny side. But the garlic seasoning was standard. The beef fat fries was also better than your average fries but not top notch. And the fried fish, the trout, was again, bland and standard. The sauce that came with it gave a bit of flavor but again, this isn't the a top notch restaurant as the interior suggests. At a premium price-point, Brasserie Alfa needs to step up its game if it wants to win over taste buds and not just visuals. Oh, the pecan pie was top notch. Definitely steered the review to a upward trajectory but I guess it was a bit too late. If it's your first time in Luxembourg and staying at the Marriott, it's worth a visit. Otherwise, I'd say it doesn't deserve a detour.
