Review of Restaurant Ryodo
Emily Smith
In all honesty, our arrival at the location was purely incidental, and we were extremely fortunate to secure a spot. The locale is undoubtedly picturesque, yet the ambience lacks a certain warmth and fluidity. I found myself feeling slightly scrutinized by the staff, which hindered my ability to converse without restraint. My expectations for the cuisine were slightly higher, given the fact that it's a Michelin-starred establishment, though the lack of surprise is somewhat disappointing. However, I must confess that the standard of the seafood is exceptionally high. We opted for the vegetarian and fish combo meal in order to sample a variety. The service was quite sluggish, with our meal taking several hours to conclude. I suspect they neglected to present us with our final dessert, which was brought out only after we had finished our coffee. In addition, despite the slow service, the staff was cordial and professional, which somewhat compensated for the delay. The place had a certain charm to it, but it lacked the vibe of warmth and friendliness that we were hoping for. The pricing was on the higher side, which would have been justified had the service and food met our expectations. The fish was well prepared, with a perfect balance of flavors, which is a testament to the chef's skill and attention to detail. However, the vegetarian options could use some improvement to match the high standard set by the seafood. Overall, it was a unique experience but there are areas they could improve on to truly live up to the prestige of a Michelin-starred establishment.
