Review of Kicheneck
James Johnson
In a nutshell, my encounter was disheartening. I held lofty expectations influenced by the numerous positive critiques. The service was passable - our food was promptly served in a reasonable time frame post ordering. However, the period of time it took for them to present the bill after we requested it was extraordinarily long. So much so, that I found myself compelled to walk inside to settle the payment myself 😅. The food was devoid of salt. Every single meat dish, with the exception of the chicken, was without a pinch of salt! This was regrettable considering they had an abundance of other spices and seasonings at their disposal. The salads, on the other hand, were genuinely delectable and delightful. The ambiance of the place was nothing extraordinary or noteworthy, merely a modest intersection, but this wasn't a major concern to us. We had brought our own drinks, which turned out to be a silver lining to our experience. The restaurant's environment was far from unique or impressive. It was nothing more than a small intersection, but that wasn't a significant issue for us. The fact that we were able to bring our own beverages was a positive point in an otherwise disappointing experience. In terms of the food, it was unseasoned. All of the meat dishes, excluding the chicken, lacked salt! This was unfortunate given the variety of other flavourings they had on hand. On a brighter note, the salads were thoroughly enjoyable. In conclusion, my overall experience didn't meet the high expectations set by the positive reviews I had read. A lack of prompt service and unsalted food contributed to a disappointing visit. Nevertheless, the salads were a delightful surprise, and the fact that we could bring our own drinks somewhat compensated for the other shortcomings.
